Specialists name five factors causing liver impairment
The Consumer Information Institute in Germany (Stiftung Warentest) has revealed five factors that influence liver damage and five that protect the organ.
The liver is an essential organ for metabolism and detoxification. When it is damaged, the whole body suffers. However, liver damage often goes unnoticed because it does not initially have any symptoms, according to the German publication FOCUS Online.
Experts believe that alcohol, dietary supplements with vitamins A and B3, medications with paracetamol, an excess of fruits in the diet, and obesity can impair liver function.
Doctors advise not to abuse the named products and medicines, monitor weight, and replace vitamins with natural food.
The liver malfunction has the following symptoms: dark brown urine, a feeling of pressure in the upper right abdomen, a yellowish eyeball, and a greenish or brownish ring around the iris.
Moreover, experts from the Consumer Information Institute identified healthy habits and foods that will improve liver function. These include consuming artichokes, coffee, and local organic products, drinking enough water, and being active.
