Ambassador denies presence of anti-Russian sentiments in Lithuania
Lithuanian ambassador to Russia Eitvydas Bajarūnas has told NEWS.ru that there are no anti-Russian moods in Lithuania. He noted that the country ensures school and university education in the Russian language.
When they tell me that Lithuanians are 'Russophobic,' I want to reply by saying: name another country where a child can study exceptionally in the Russian language from kindergarten until graduation from school, the diplomat said.
He noted that this was not a 'handout,' since Russians, like Poles, Jews and Belarusians have lived in Lithuania for ages. For example, Lithuanian film director Rimas Tuminas is also an artistic director of the Moscow Theater after Yevgeny Vakhtangov.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius saidRussia would 'take a real risk' if it provides military assistance to Belarus.
